Focus Wild Arizona is the Arizona Game & Fish Department’s award-winning wildlife education program. The goal of the program is to promote awareness, appreciation and stewardship of the state’s wildlife resources by using wildlife as a context for learning science, social studies, math and language arts. We believe in a simple idea: Wildlife is a hook. Most kids love animals. As educators, we can use this inherent interest to help us teach important concepts and skills, not just in science but all disciplines.
Our program includes a variety of educational resources. These include lesson plans and books that can be downloaded from our website, as well as tactile resources like our popular bone boxes that can be checked out from locations around the state. We also have an extensive calendar of professional development opportunities for educators of all types. Many of these include hands-on field experiences with biologists and subject matter experts.
