CAMP COUNSELOR Position Description
Camp Colley Foundation provides wilderness experiences for underprivileged children living in Phoenix to nurture healthy development and resilience, foster meaningful relationships, and encourage nature exploration. Nestled within the Coconino National Forest in northern Arizona, Camp Colley connects children to intentional programming in nature like horseback riding, archery, campfires, hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, stargazing, and STEM education activities.  This will be a summer of fun, learning, and growth not only for our campers but for everyone on our team!

Reports To: Camp Program Director (CPD), Assistant Camp Director (ACD) and Head Camp Counselors (HCC).

Employment Status: Seasonal Contractor (with stipend)

Role: Camp Counselors (CCs) are the staff stars, showcasing the heart and soul of Camp Colley!  They serve as 24/7 mentors, making sure that our campers have a fun, safe, engaging summer camp experience throughout each camp session. CCs have an incredible opportunity to make a direct, lasting positive impact in the lives of underserved youth. This is also a fantastic experience to learn new skills, push yourself outside of your comfort zone, grow stronger as a person, and make some great new friends within the staff team.

Essential job functions: Plan and facilitate assigned camp events and activities, encourage campers to engage, supervise campers during the day and night, implement camp rules, coordinate with other staff to maintain campers safety, participate in staff meetings, clean up after camp activities, maintain camp cleanliness at all times, adhere to all policies and procedures of Camp Colley, record camper data as assigned, and attend all required trainings.
