Auriane Koster, PhD, is a Sustainability Manager for Pierce Energy Planning (PEP). She works with school districts to incorporate sustainability and energy conservation within their curriculum, campus, and community. She also created and teaches the School of Sustainability Arizona State University Online courses, ‘Society and Sustainability’ and ‘Threads of Energy’.
Previously, for two years, she taught the course ‘Sustainability Science for Teachers’ in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at ASU. Dr. Koster completed her PhD in 2013 from ASU’s School of Sustainability. Her dissertation focused on renewable-energy governance at the national scale and in an international context. Dr. Koster is a member of the ASU Sustainability Design Advisory Committee and the Arizona USGBC Green Schools Committee. She is also co-Chair of the Environmental Literacy Strategy Working Group for the Arizona Association for Environmental Education, which is working towards developing an Environmental Literacy Strategy for Arizona.
Additionally, Dr. Koster is a member of the Technical Advisory Team for a California Energy Commission Grant, Past-President of the ASU School of Sustainability Alumni Board, a Senior Sustainability Scientist for the ASU Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability, and is often asked to be a peer reviewer for the journals Sustainability, Challenges, Energies, Energy Policy, and Current Issues in Education.
